In episode 25:
After hearing cameramen refer to the famous ‘VariCam look’, Panasonic kindly lent us the new Cinema VariCam LT to see for ourselves. Not wanting to repeat dry specifications freely available online, we give our views on whether owner operators should be considering this camera as their next 4K HDR purchase.
Spike Geilinger is already using the VariCam LT on the BBC show ‘Britain’s Lost Masterpieces’. Spike has successfully moved from freelance cameraman to being credited with producing, directing, photographing and even writing this beautiful series. Apart from wanting his views on the camera, we ask if all cameraman should be looking to direct as a defence from the ‘self shooting’ revolution.
As Netflix launch the most expensive TV drama ever, we wonder if there’s anything left for broadcast TV. Steve takes his plane out for a spin to China and we search for more cameraman tips.
enjoy…
Steve and Paul
